In the very unlikely event that the property becomes unavailable and The Good Life Society has to cancel the booking, we will endeavour to find you a suitable alternative date or even property

If there is nothing available, we will give you a full refund. The Good Life Society (The Good Life Experience Ltd) shall only be liable to return the monies received. No compensation or consequential losses shall be paid. We are not liable for travel costs or similar.

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE

Guests are welcome to arrive from 4:00pm. If you will be arriving earlier than this and would like to offload your luggage so you can explore, please let us know and we will make arrangements for safe storage.

In order that the property can be thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the next arrival, departure time is 10:00am – we ask for your understanding with this as all good things take time!

OCCUPANCY

The number of persons occupying the property must not exceed the maximum number stated on the booking, and the names and addresses of all members of the party must be shared with The Good Life Society. If we find that more people than agreed are using the property, this will be considered a breach of contract and you and your party will be asked to leave immediately without any refund.

If you wish to hold any function or celebrations exceeding the occupancy limit, you must first obtain the written permission of The Good Life Society. If permission is granted, an additional charge will be made.

NOISE, NUISANCE & BEHAVIOUR

Hawarden Estate is a mixture of private residences and holiday properties. Causing a nuisance or disturbance to neighbours or any unreasonable behaviour may result in The Good Life Societys requiring you or your guests to leave.

CARE OF THE PROPERTY, DAMAGES & BREAKAGES

You are responsible for the property and we ask you to take all reasonable care of its furniture, pictures, fittings and effects, in or on the property. We expect you to leave them in the same state of repair and in the same clean and tidy condition at the end of the rental period as you found them at the beginning. We ask that you leave the property secure if you leave it unoccupied during the period of let.

You must not use the properties for any dangerous, offensive or noisy activities or do anything that may be a nuisance or annoyance to the guests of any other holiday properties or the residents of Hawarden Estate.

We understand that accidents happen and we ask that any breakages or damage (accidental or otherwise) are reported immediately to The Good Life Society. Failure to do this may result in you being charged for any breakages or damage. Any missing inventory from the property on your departure may also be charged for, as may extra cleaning.

COMMERCIAL ACTIVITIES

Guests must not use our properties for commercial activities.

DOGS

Dogs are welcome to all our properties (but not in the hot tubs!).  We do ask that they are house-trained, kept under proper control and not allowed on the furniture or beds. They must not be left unattended in the property unless they are crated and unlikely to cause a noise disturbance. Dog hairs are to be removed from carpets and all dog waste collected and disposed of. Dog owners will be held responsible for any damage caused to the property, contents or garden by their dog and for any extra cleaning required.

When you are out walking within the property grounds and estate, you must ensure that your dog(s) are kept under close control. They must not be allowed to disturb people, horses, livestock, deer, game birds, hens or ground-nesting birds.

If you wish to bring more than two dogs, please contact The Good Life Society prior to arrival to ensure that this is acceptable.

MOBILE PHONES
Please note there is limited mobile signal available in our properties.  Where possible please enable your phone to use Wi-Fi calling and use the internet connection which you can find all over the property and surrounding areas.

INTERNET ACCESS
Internet access is provided for your use in all cottages. You agree to reasonable and lawful usage of this service.

We cannot guarantee that internet access will always be available as the weather may affect the service, or heavy use in our offices and shops. Any damage to the infrastructure caused by the weather may take a while to repair.

No refunds or compensation will be offered or paid should there be no internet access.

OPEN FIRE & WOOD BURNERS
Each of our holiday properties are supplied with logs (replenished free of charge) and a starter supply of firelighters.

SEVERE WEATHER
Due to our remote location, we are frequently subject to severe weather. Snow and ice conditions mean that the police will close the nearby snow gates which means that access from the south will have to be via Stonehaven. Access from the north is not affected by their closure.

If flooding or snow conditions make you feel that you cannot reach the property safely in your own vehicle, we can make arrangements to meet you in Banchory and transport you to Glen Dye.  We love a bit of adventure and we won’t let adverse weather spoil your break!

During severe weather, there is a chance that power cuts will occur. As the repair and restoration of the electricity supply is outwith our control, we cannot guarantee when it will return, and no refunds or compensation will be offered or paid. We do however provide torches and a gas hob and North Lodge is connected to a generator.

COMPLAINTS
Every endeavour is made to ensure your stay with us is memorable for all the right reasons.  However, we do recognise that from time-to-time, things do go wrong.  In these circumstances, it is your responsibility to make any such problems known to The Good Life Society as soon as it becomes apparent, giving us the opportunity to correct the situation, and rest assured, we will make every endeavour to do so as soon as reasonably possible. Unless this procedure is followed, no subsequent claim will be entertained.

CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND THE CONTROL OF THE OWNER (FORCE MAJEURE)
If, for any reason, we have to cancel your booking in advance due to circumstances beyond our control, for example fire, flood, exceptional weather conditions, epidemics, pandemics, destruction/damage to the property (“force majeure “) you will be refunded the full amount of the booking.

If we have to terminate your holiday early for the above reasons you will be refunded part of the booking fee based on the time remaining of the booking. This will be the full extent of the liability of The Good Life Society.  No additional compensation, expenses or costs will be payable.
